Approaching Perfection

January 27, 2021

The True Love Designer Series papers is my absolute favorite Designer Series Paper in the January - June 2021 Catalog. I love the images and designs. They are so easy to use and being good old black and white, they lend themselves to a pop of color.  In this group of cards I made some subtle changes, embossing folders, greetings and a little color changes although, they are all using the same basic colors. These are beautiful cards that can be done on a budget. The main things I used were Tuxedo Black Momento Ink, Basic White cardstock, Basic Black cardstock, and embossing folder and a few Stampin' Blends. I will list all the products below. All the greetings came from Approaching Perfection, a FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set. This set is FREE with a $50 purchase. Purchase the other supplies you need and you could make 20 cards easily!

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut 11 x 4 1/4 Basic White, score at 5 1/2
Cut 5 1/4 x 4 Basic White, emboss Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder

Cut 1 1/8 x 4 Basic Black
Cut 1 x 4 Basic White, stamp the greeting in Tuxedo Black Momento
Cut one of the flower images from the True Love Designer Series Papers and color with Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink, Poppy Parade, Soft Suede Dark & Calypso Coral
Finish off with Matte Black Dots

On this one I used the same Basic White & Basic Black and embossed the 5 1/4 x 4 Basic White with the Subtle Embossing folder. Colored the flowers with Petal Pink, Soft Suede and Calypso Coral light and Mossy Meadow for the leaf. I used a different stamp and stamped the first 3 lines on the front of the card and the rest on the inside. I chose to cut my stamp in half. If you don't want to do that use a Black Stampin' Write Marker and color the stamp then apply to the paper.

As you can see, the layout is the same. This time I cut the largest image from the Designer Series paper and allowed it to hang over the greeting. The 5 1/4 x 4 Basic White was embossed with Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. The flowers were colored with Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Soft Suede Dark and Mossy Meadow. I stamped half of this image on the front and the other half on the inside.

On this one I made a change in the basic layout. Due to the fact that my greeting did not fit in the 1 1/2" I had allotted for it. I cut the Basic White 1 1/2 x 4 and the Basic Black at 1 5/8 x 4. I embossed the 5 1/4 x 4 Basic White with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder. I once again cut and colored the largest image and allowed it to flow over into the greeting box. The image was colored with Poppy Parade, Soft Suede Dark and Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends

On this one I used the 5th greeting from the Approaching Perfection. I embossed the 5 1/4 x 4 Basic White with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder. I cut 2 different images from the True Love Designer Series papers. One was a double flower, which was located on the edge of the DSP so I butted the strait edge up to the greeting edge to make it look like is was purposeful. This is a good way to use the images along the edge of the DSP. I cut one more flower so I could stay with my theme. I colored the flowers in Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow & Soft Suede Dark Stampin' Blends

Today I wanted to show you how you can used this fun stamp & die set and not use the Designer Series Paper. I love the coordinating Designer Series Paper but I think there are about a million posts on the interned showing how to use the DSP so I wanted to reach outside the box and use something else. I selected the wood grain DSP from Beautiful Gallery and I love the way it came out. Be sure to download the free Project Sheet below

For this card I started out with the beautiful 2025-27 In Color Strawberry Slush. I used the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape and die to cut the flowers. I added the beautiful Metallic Texture Rub Ons to add bling to the card. You will find all of these things in my Stampin' Up! store . Be sure to download the Free Project Sheet for all the measurements.

This sweet card uses the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape with the die to cut the flowers. I attached the tape to a piece of Basic White cardstock and die cut it using the coordinating die. This made for a bunch of beautiful flowers to attach to the front and inside of the card. The greeting is from Year of Flowers. I added the beautiful little Iridescent Pearls to the centers of the flowers . The background is embossed with Glass & Gardens Embossing Folder. You will find all these products listed below along with Free Project Sheet.

No, I am not stuck on this set of dies, however, this idea came to me through an indirect route and I of course had to change it up and do it a little differently. The Thankful Garden Bundle or the Pretty Floral Bundle could be used for this idea. Actually any set of die cut flowers would work. I used an 11 x 4 1/4 piece of Basic White for my card base so the card opens at the top instead of the side to create a beautiful and fun easel fold
