2018 Calendar - October

Dec 15, 2017

Happy Halloween!

Last year we had such a great new set for this month with dies and amazing stamps and papers that I had a hard time with October this year. So I went really simple.

The base cardstock for all the pages is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Whisper White
All the calendars were created by me in Publisher and are cut at 3 1/4 x 4 1/2

The stamp set used is Spooky Cat
Next layer is 5 1/4 x 7 7/8 Crushed Curry
Cut Basic Black at 5 x 3 7/8 (top) and 3 3/8 x 4 5/8 (bottom)
Cut Whisper White @ 3 3/4 x 4 7/8. Use a piece of scrap cardstock (any color it doesn't matter) punch with a 2 1/2" circle punch, then using a sponge and Crushed Curry sponge inside the circle to create the moon.
Punch the Cat from a piece of Basic Black
Cut 3 3/4 x 1 1/4 piece of DSP (I used last years Halloween paper), However, we have some great black and white prints that would work as well.
Put a piece of 3/8" Crushed Curry Mini Chevron Ribbon across the top of the DSP
Stamp the greeting in Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White
Finish off with the Black Rhinestones.

Two-Tone Flora is one of my favorite stamp sets. I love the way I can create beautiful flowers that look so real you could reach out and touch them. This is two step stamp set, one stamp creates the outline and the other fills in the image. For the flowers, I stamped the outline stamp in full strength on the Basic White cardstock using Pretty In Pink, a color that is returning as one of the 2024-26 In Colors. Then I stamped off when using the stamp to fill the image. This is the first of a series of cards that I will be doing over the next 5 weeks to introduce the 5 new In Colors and one of my favorite retiring stamp sets. Each week I will use a different stamp set, color and fun fold. Be sure to check out all of the following posts here or the videos on YouTube. If you are interested in purchasing the Stamps & Dies you will find them listed below. Just click on the image and you will be taken to my Stampin' Up! store where you can make your purchase. I appreciate your support.

So this card came about in an odd way. I was done cutting for Spice Up Paper Pumpkin and repacking the kits. When I picked this scrap up off the counter I was sure it should be a card. I had just the right scraps left to do this fun project. This is a gift card holder inside by using another scrap that matched to create the pocket and insert one of our Gift Card Envelopes.

I will show you how I created this Faux Step Card. Rather than doing all the tricky cutting you just add an additional panel. I used the tag from Paper Pumpkin Lovely Lavender and added it to a piece of 5 1/2 x 2 1/8. Be sure to check out how I did this fun card! Careful there is a trick!
