COLOR BLOCKING

May 21, 2019

THIS WEEK I WANT TO INTRODUCE YOU TO FOUR TECHNIQUES OF COLOR BLOCKING

In this method you will be just sponging in certain areas of the card with certain colors. You will be coloring blocked off areas that could blend together. There is a small area of the Whisper White background that forms the division between. When you sponge don't go all the way to the next color. Leave that little bit of white space or lightly sponged area between each color. Here I used the five new 2019-20 In Colors. I love the way they coordinate beautifully together.

These cards are beautiful yet they don't take a lot of supplies. A great project for the Casual Stamper. However, embossing is what got me started. It is such a wow factor!

STAMPS:
A Little Lace #149364

PAPERS:
Whisper White—5 1/4 x 4, 5 x 3 3/4
Flirty Flamingo—8 1/2 x 5 1/2

ACCESSORIES:
White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Sponges, Heat Tool, Pearls

INKS:
2019-20 In Colors—*Purple Posy, Seaside Spray, Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile, Rococo Rose and Versamark

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Stamp the greeting. In order to place it near the center. I positioned the card on our grid paper. There are 20 blocks from top to bottom of the paper. Count down 12 squares and stamp there.
  • Stamp the large image, flowers, 4 times in Versa Mark on the smallest Whisper White.
  • Sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and emboss with the Heat Gun
  • Using a piece of the sponge begin sponging. Use all of the five In Colors
  • Add the pearls

* The Purple Posy Stamp Pad is having quality issues. Therefore, Stampin' Up! has pulled this pad from the market. They are hoping to have this resolved by the middle of August. They are always trying to be sure we have quality products to work with. The only reason I have this pad is because I went to OnStage and was able to order it.

If you would like to order any of the products I used to create these projects or any other. Please click on the shop link or the photos below and it will take you to my website which is open 24/7.

My favorite part of my job is creating. It doesn't always come easy but this month's Paper Pumpkin kit contained beautiful Alcohol Ink papers. The papers were so beautiful and the kit included nine card bases which had the design on the front and back of the card. When cutting them apart you were able to create 18 card fronts. I started designing by cutting them apart and then went from there. Throughout the week I will post 3 cards each day for seven days that were all made with April 2025 Paper Pumpkin Inked Occasions

This is the final card in a series from the Impressions Abloom. If you have not see the others check my blog. This is the first one I created using Timid Tiger but for my Facebook Live I wanted to use the new In Colors.

All this week I will be posting cards created with products remaining from my recent event. This card was inspired by the card below that I created for that event. I had a focus on creating masculine cards and when I was done with the event I had a set of the undone cards remaining. I had received the New Impressions Abloom which is only available if you are a Demonstrator until May 1, 2025. After that date it will be available to anyone. I used the products that were in the packet to create this card. Of course I added a few extra things. I will give you all the instructions on the page including measurements and products used for both projects
